The first to arrive was the ‘Wonder of the Seas’, the largest luxury ship in the world , capable of carrying 9,000 people in her heyday. On Docking in Murcia, the vessel, due to Covid restrictions, contained a still impressive 3,700 tourists and a crew of 1,500. Next to dock were the ‘Viking Star’ and the ‘Celebrity Constellation’, carrying more than 1,200 holidaymakers; in all, more than 5,000 tourists docked in the Cartagena port in one morning alone. It is estimated that some twenty-seven cruise ships with around thirty-five thousand tourists on board will make a stopover in the city throughout the month of May.
