There was an explosion at the Hoover Dam in Boulder City, Nevada, on Tuesday when officials say a transformer caught fire. At 10 a.m. local time, a transformer caught fire, causing the giant plumes of black smoke caught on camera by people nearby. Officials say the A5 transformer was extinguished by the Reclamation/Hoover fire brigade at about 10:30 PST. A video shared by Twitter user @kristynashville who appeared to have been touring the Hoover Dam showed the large clouds of smoke billowing from the transformer.
