The country’s citizens are to pay their respects and tributes to the valiant sons of the soil who were killed during the Language Movement of 1952. Although, February is the month of mourning, it is also a matter of dignity and honour for the nation as Bangalis sacrificed their lives in order to preserve their mother language in the world. Language Day— February 21—is also recognized as the InternationalMother Language Day. A month-long book fair, held to commemorate the Language Movement, begins on Friday.
