Photo: Juergen Schacke/ Wikimedia CommonsHokitika's historic port precinct is to get "ship-shape" over summer ready for the launch of a Tohu Whenua landmark as a historic site of national importance. The multi-agency government Tohu Whenua programme was launched three years ago to tell the stories of the regions. The Custom House and replica weighbridge add to the Hokitika Port experience. Interpretation panels are also planned for the site to acknowledge the early history of the town and port.
