Former Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman Lalit Modi and his family have applied for citizenship in Saint Lucia in the Caribbean islands. Considered to be one of the best tax havens, St. Lucia maintains one of the highest banking secrecy standards. Modi, who is currently in the United Kingdom, has applied for citizenship under their investment scheme. Under its investment scheme program, St. Lucia grants individuals citizenship very selectively. Before granting citizenship, it does its due diligence and does background checks with the home country of the applicants through Interpol.
