In her first race since committing Tuesday to run at the University of Oregon, Lake Braddock senior Kate Murphy outpaced the competition through the three-mile course at the Frank Keyser Invitational in Boonsboro, Md., to win in 16:56.9. Coffin finished second in 17:10.2, followed by Catoctin’s Julien Webster (17:44.7). The well-rounded Lake Braddock girls’ squad claimed the large-school team title with 27 points, ahead of River Hill (101) and Walter Johnson (109). Last year, Holt finished third behind Heritage’s Weini Kelati and Patriot’s Rachel McArthur. Marshall won the girls’ team title with 87 points ahead of second-place Loudoun Valley (152) and third-place Patriot (158).
