Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru has been arrested. Waruguru was arrested on Friday evening at a Nanyuki hotel shortly after attending a press conference addressed by Interior CS Fred Matiang’i. The MP was arrested by two policewomen in the company of other police officers including Laikipia East DCIO Jacob Murithi who whisked her into a police vehicle and took her to Nanyuki police station. The officers had positioned themselves outside the hotel and shortly after Matiangi addressed journalists on the issues they agreed on with local leaders, the woman representative was arrested. Earlier in the day, Waruguru and her two employees had been detained at Vineyard hotel in Nanyuki town where the police officers blocked her vehicle from leaving the facility for the alleged crime.
