Lahore High Court moved to disqualify Shahbaz, Rana Sanaullah


LAHORE: A lawyer has approached the Lahore High Court for the disqualification of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan on the basis of the Justice Najafi Report on the Model Town tragedy of 2014. Advocate Shoaib Saleem told the court that according to the conclusions of Justice Ali Baqar Najafi’s inquiry tribunal report, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan were guilty of making false claims before the court, the media and the public. The petitioner also stated that the inquiry tribunal accused the Punjab government of concealing facts and hindering investigation while observing that its officials tried to cover up for each other, preventing the tribunal from arriving at a definitive conclusion. He said that the Model Town inquiry report clearly depicted in its conclusion that the chief minister and the law minister submitted false affidavits regarding the disengagement of police from the place of the occurrence. He also asked the court to restrain the respondents from performing their duties till a decision regarding the petition had been reached at.
