Lady Gaga’s overzealous fanbase, have long been waiting for: a new solo album, with a return to the sound that launched her career. Gaga announced her new album, Joanne, set for an October 21 release, in an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 on Thursday, adding that the album would be ready for release in just 48 hours. She made a mark on the family, particularly on Gaga, whose middle name is also Joanne in ode to her aunt. Last week, the pop star surprise released the album’s first single, “Perfect Illusion,” to rave reviews by fans and critics. A much simpler, softer cover compared to her previous albums, Joanne marks the singer’s sixth solo album, the last being 2013’s Artpop, which performed poorly commercially and critically.
