It has celebrated women’s contributions in rural entrepreneurship, banking and other diverse fields for half a century nowThe Ladies’ Wing of the apex body for trade and commerce in the region, the Indian Merchants Chamber (IMC), is set to mark its 50 years of existence on Thursday with an event called ‘Transforming India’. To be held at a South Mumbai hotel, the event will see Prime Minister Narendra Modi (jointly addressing the Ladies' Wing of the IMC and the IMC Chamber) via video conferencing. A book highlighting IMC Ladies’ Wing’s historic journey will also be released. The IMC Ladies’ Wing, goes way back to 1966, when it began as a forum for implementing social change and helping women find their place in society as well as the world of entrepreneurship. It has celebrated women’s contributions in rural entrepreneurship, banking and other diverse fields for half a century now.
