Lacson urges government to review its budgeting, spending process 3 SHARES Share it! Share TweetBy Vanne TerrazolaSen. Panfilo Lacson on Saturday urged the government to review its budgeting and spending process to avoid the wastage of billions of taxpayers’ money. The senator issued the appeal after finding that P583.5 billion of the government’s funds last year were “wasted” on projects that were stalled due to allegations of irregularities. He had cited the Commission on Audit’s (COA) notices of suspensions, disallowances and charges against various government projects amounting to nearly P600 billion as of December 2017. While “it’s bad enough that we lose a lot to corruption,” Lacson said “it’s worse” that the government is losing more money “due to incompetence and lack of preparation.”
