The incident occurred at the La Beach on Wednesday, August 5 – Founders’ Day - sparking fear among residents in the area. The Police, in a statement confirming the explosion advised the public, especially parents and community leaders to be wary of strange objects they chance upon. The statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Madam Effia Tenge, Head of Public Relations Unit, Greater Accra Region also indicated that the explosion occurred when the children were playing along the La Beach.
