KUALA LUMPUR: The police have been urged to expedite their probe of 12 individuals recently arrested on suspicion of having links to the Tamil Eelam Liberation Army (LTTE). DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said a speedy investigation would enable the suspects to be charged as soon as possible, and for them to defend themselves. "Hopefully, the police can focus on the investigation work, instead of holding press conferences. Ayob Khan said the comments – including by Lim – may undermine the investigation, as well as create a negative perception of the local Tamil community. Lim, however, said that certain parties are deliberately twisting his original statement on the detention of the suspects, which include two DAP assemblymen.
