Share TweetBy Myrna VelascoThe price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will increase by P3.88 per kilogram this month or an aggregate P42.68 for the standard 11-kilogram tank. As of press time, the industry play­ers that already raised LPG prices are Petron Corporation for its Gasul brand, and Solane which hiked its LPG price by P3.41 per kg exclusive of value added tax (VAT) charges. The international contract price of LPG jumped by US$30 per met­ric ton pulling up prices of the cooking fuel being retailed in the Philippine market. The domestic oil industry is heavily dependent on imports, including LPG, hence the uptick in prices in the world market is consequently being passed on to Filipino consumers.
