Tracey Loughran, a historian at the University of Essex, was among those who contacted the university to complain about the talk. Free speech is one thing, but trans rights are human rights and we shouldn’t be debating human rights', she said to the University of Essex on Twitter. This was the third time in a month that a university has cancelled an event after the speaker was accused of holding transphobic views.
