[UPDATE: Since publishing this story, multiple LG TV owners have confirmed to me that their new Apple TV app does not support Dolby Atmos sound. As you would expect, the app will include support for the iTunes movie and TV store, the Apple TV+ subscription streaming service, and ‘Apple TV Channels’. The LG TVs confirmed as receiving the Apple TV app are the Z9, W9, E9, C9 and B9 OLEDs, and the SM9X, SM8X, UM7X and UM6X NanoCell LCD TVs. It appears, too, that the app is compatible with LG’s ‘two-deck’ menu structure, where highlighting the Apple TV app in the main launcher menu brings up a second tier of direct access links to select Apple TV content.
