They also emphasized that government should be buying more paddies from across Bangladesh in order to save the farmers. Mentioning the sufferings of the jute mill workers, LDA central leader Liakat Ali said: "Farmers are setting their paddy on fire and jute mill workers are out on the streets demanding their wages. JaSaD President and Member of Parliament Hasanul Haq Inu said: “There is an error in government's buying procedure of paddy from the farmers. If necessary, the government can rent private storage houses to store paddy, which are harvested this season," Inu added.
