They hope the guaranteed income program will help them pursue reliable employment opportunities and achieve financial stability. This new guaranteed income program is in addition to a L.A. County program approved in May, which provides a minimum of 1,000 residents up to $1,000 per month for three years. The U.S. has tried universal basic income pilots in the past, but the results were less-than-desirable from a political standpoint.
