Running back Melvin Gordon was a key part of the Los Angeles Chargers' success in 2018. The dominoes falling in regard to Gordon’s contract beef are interesting to contemplate. Maybe if Gordon doesn’t cool his jets, the Chargers remain within striking distance of the Kansas City Chiefs instead of anchoring the AFC West. If Gordon doesn’t sit out, it’s possible Chargers backup Austin Ekeler doesn’t get his chance to contribute. With the undrafted Ekeler shining during and after Gordon’s absence, the Chargers gave Ekeler a four-year, $24.5 million pact in turning away from Gordon.
