L.A. won’t immediately follow CDC’s relaxed mask rules

Federal officials on Thursday announced a sweeping relaxation of face mask guidelines, including allowing fully vaccinated people to safely stop wearing masks in most places — either outdoors or inside. Los Angeles County officials, however, said the latest guidance will not be effective in California immediately. A person is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the final dose of a vaccine. President Biden welcomed the CDC’s announcement as a milestone for the nation and a credit to the U.S. vaccination campaign. She said lifting mask guidance for fully vaccinated people will provide an incentive for those who may have put off getting the shot.
