L’Oréal's firing of Munroe Bergdorf demonstrates that a white lawbreaker is not “at odds with its values,” but a Black transgendered person who speaks out against racism is, writes Shree Paradkar. Bergdorf had clearly missed the memo: in exchange for the opportunity to be with L’Oréal, her role as a Black, transgender person was to be grateful and subservient. What are the odds a Black person convicted of assaulting a white person would get a high-profile job? That’s white privilege. That’s white privilege too.
