Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe has been diagnosed with a left knee sprain and will not have surgery at this stage. The 27-year-old France international has been struggling with an injury to the external ligament of his left knee since the end of 2025. He missed last week's Champions League play-off second leg against Benfica and travelled to Paris for more tests. Mbappe will be absent for the La Liga fixture with Getafe on Monday, while his availability to face Manchester City in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie next week is not clear. Real Madrid said "the diagnosis of a sprain in his left knee has been confirmed" and Mbappe will continue with the current course of "conservative treatment".
