Kyiv prepares for a winter without heat, water or power

The mayor of Kyiv is warning residents to prepare for the worst this winter if Russia keeps striking the country’s energy infrastructure. It means having no electricity, water or heat in the freezing cold cannot be ruled out in the Ukrainian capital. Rolling blackouts were also planned in the Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Kharkiv and Poltava regions, Ukraine’s state-owned energy operator Ukrenergo said. In one sliver of good news, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station was reconnected to Ukraine’s power grid, local media reported on Sunday.
