The Kremlin's top spokesperson hinted on Tuesday a prisoner swap involving detained Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich could be in the works. "We have already stated that there are certain contacts in progress regarding this issue, but we do not want to make them public. They must be followed and maintained in complete silence," Russian diplomat and Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov told Russian outlets, including TASS, at a press conference. The WSJ and the Biden administration have also pushed back against the espionage charges lobbied against the journalist. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has made it clear the U.S. is seeking the release of Gershkovich and Whelon.
