Kozhikode corporation moves plan to develop road stretch


KOZHIKODE: City corporation council meeting chaired by Mayor Thottathil Raveendran here on Monday passed an amended resolution congratulating the state government for earmarking the full fund required for the materialisation of the Manananchira -Vellimadukunnu road stretch under the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).The resolution was passed after it was put out for voting. Kishan Chand moved the motion protesting against the government for not earning any amount and urging to allot Rs 100 crore immediately for the road work.Participating in the deliberations, BJP councillor E Prasnath Kumar said the UDF government had cheated the public giving false hope of developing the road stretch. The councillors irrespective of party lines said stray dog menace is a problem in many parts of the corporation limit and urged the mayor to take steps to resolve the issue. The mayor in his reply said that the civic body will take required steps on the basis of directions given by chief minister in the meeting held at Thiruvananthapuram on August 22. The meeting takes place after the incident of a woman being mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs.
