World 800m champion Emmanuel Korir has expressed confidence in defending his title at the 2023 World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary next month. Korir said he is ready to shake off a nagging calf injury that locked him out of the national trials. "I had planned to compete in the national trials but had to pull out at the last minute for my safety. I was battling a calf injury that could have easily turned worse if I had gone ahead and raced at the trials," Korir said. But I will not allow anything to deter my plans of winning the title in Budapest," he remarked.
