Komodo dragon blood may help fight superbugsGETTY IMAGES Bacteria from the mouth of a Komodo dragon can cause poisoning in humans, but their blood might just help in the fight against superbugs (file pic). It sounds like something out of Harry Potter: dragon's blood being used to fight superbugs. Scientists from George Mason University in the US have isolated a compound found in Komodo Dragon blood that may provide a cure for antibiotic resistant superbugs, the New York Times reports. They are known to have more than 80 strains of bacteria in their mouths, including some that cause blood poisoning in humans. The race to find new antibiotics has become urgent as more and more bacteria develop resistance to existing drugs.
