TRIBUTE | Kole OmotosoBankole Ajibabi Omotoso, better known as Kole Omotoso, the Nigerian novelist, playwright, journalist, scholar and actor, died on 19 July 2023. Omotoso was an inspiration for me, too, as a journalist, communications scholar and writer. Omotoso not only wrote plays but was an actor as well – that made him special. He then moved to the drama department of the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife) from 1976 to 1988. Life in exileIn the heat of the ruinous military rule and the anomie of the 1980s, Omotoso and other academics left Nigeria.
