Kobe Bryant was an American legend who grew up overseas in Europe. He entered the NBA draft straight out of high school in 1996 after a childhood spent partly in Italy, where his father, former NBA player Joe “Jellybean” Bryant, played professionally. “He had a lot of Italian qualities.”He added that Bryant “spoke Italian very well. Kobe Bryant spoke fluent Italian, and often said it would be a “dream” to play in the country. It’s very sad that his family has been devastated like this.”Thanks to his young years in Italy, Bryant was a lifelong soccer fan, too.
