He may have directed the most controversial Star Wars film of all time in The Last Jedi, but director Rian Johnson no doubt will have a beloved future classic on his hands with whodunnit mystery Knives Out. When iconic crime writer Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found to have met a bloody end, private investigator Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is drafted in to aid the police in their investigations. However, the Thrombey clan and their associates are a vicious viper's nest full of greed, jealousy, and hidden secrets. It is a witty, surprising, and terrifically performed film from Rian Johnson and an all-star modern classic whodunnit that subverts expectations. Knives Out is the American Express Gala film for BFI London Film Festival 2019, but is released in UK cinemas on November 29, 2019.
