Kiwi rape victim: Supporting Brock Turner

READER REPORT: Kiwi rape victim: Supporting Brock Turner NAME WITHHELDSUPPLIED/123RF.COM "I'm a rape victim and I believe a society that demonises rapists may actually perpetuate rape culture far more than his Brock Turner's sentence will." But I do wish to stress that demanding "justice" and demonising offenders in the way we have will not help us to address the immense social problem we have on our hands. And before we can address this rape problem I believe we need to accept it as an element of the human condition and something that could ultimately happen to, or by, any one of us. I also think that American man Brock Turner's six-month jail sentence for the rape of an unconscious woman behind a dumpster on the Stanford University campus isn’t quite the violation of justice that so many are claiming it to be.
