A kite surfer has drowned at Muriwai Beach this afternoon. When the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter arrived the man in his 40s was having CPR performed on him, rescue helicopter spokesman Lincoln Davies said. AdvertisementThe man had been kite surfing when emergency crews were called to the West Coast beach about 3.50pm. Police later added that a member of the public found the man on the beach. "It is believed he had been out kite surfing," police said.
