Despite being one of the greats in 1500m, breaking the world record in the specialty has elevated Faith Kipyegon into the top five athletes to have dominated every level. The 29-year old is now one of only five athletes who have dominated at every level in their track and field specialism – an individual world champion at U-18, U-20 and senior level – and set a senior world record. Kipyegon won the under-18 World Championships title in Barcelona 2012 in a time of 4:04.96. She won the World Athletics Championships titles in 2017 and 2022. Kipyegon became the first woman in history to break the 3:50-barrier in the discipline with her world record of 3:49.11 set on June 2 in Florence.
