In a new press release from Square Enix, it seems that Kingdom Hearts 3 has had a very strong opening week in terms of its sales. In that Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2 sold around 6.3 million and 5.2 million copies respectively. So these new opening sales figures for Kingdom Hearts 3 puts the game already in the same ballpark as the lifetime sales from the earlier games in the series. We first heard of Kingdom Hearts 3 back in 2013, when the game was officially announced at E3, though it was likely in development before then. By contrast, the development time between the first two Kingdom Hearts games was only 3 years.
