One of the gilded ritual beds belonging to King Tutankhamun (Tut) and one of his military wheels were transferred on Wednesday from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), in Al-Remaya Square, in preparation for its partial inauguration in 2018. The 65 artifacts of King Tut include three gold beds, 5 military wheels, and 57 pieces of fabric. The team which supervised the restoration and transfer of artifacts consists of 100 Egyptian and Japanese specialists in the fields of archaeological restoration, documentation, packaging and transport. The team documented the conditions of the bed and wheel through X-ray imaging and developed a precise plan for their restoration. The wheel was wrapped in the same way as the bed, taking up twelve boxes to transfer.
