Kindiki declares Friday public holiday


Interior CS KIthure Kindiki has declared Friday, April 21, a Public Holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr. "In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays Act, I declare Friday, 21st April, 2023, shall be a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr," the Gazette reads. Idd is celebrated by Muslims across the world to mark the end of the Holy Month of Ramadhan. The commemoration happens in the first three days of Shawwal, which is the tenth month in the Muslim (lunar) calendar. Ramadhan is known as the Holy Month as it is marked by a period of fasting which is one of the Pillars of Islam.
