The Tony Award-winning musical “Kimberly Akimbo” tells the story of a teenager with a rare genetic disorder that causes her to age four times faster than normal. Abaire explained how “Kimberly Akimbo” came about in the early 2000s and how it evolved into the show it is today. “‘Kimberly Akimbo’ was a play before it was a musical,” he said. Abaire spoke about the importance of bringing shows like “Kimberly Akimbo” off of Broadway and to stages across the U.S.“When I was growing up, I didn’t see Broadway shows,” Abaire said. It was called ‘Kimberly Akimbo.’”“Kimberly Akimbo” is now playing at the Pantages Theatre through Nov. 3.
