North Korea has pulled out of a recently established liaison office with South Korea, in the latest sign that diplomatic engagement with Pyongyang is collapsing after the failed summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un. South Korea’s president Moon Jae-in called an emergency meeting of his National Security Council, after being informed that Pyongyang was withdrawing its officials from the liaison office in the North Korean city of Kaesong, close to the border between the two countries. The North has not shut down the office and has said that South Korean officials are free to work there but being without their opposite numbers renders it practically useless.
