Following the killing of 11 Christians on Christmas Day, the National Christian Elders Forum (NCEF) on Sunday expressed anger towards President Muhammadu Buhari. According to reports, the Christians were reportedly killed by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) after it released two others who were reportedly abducted with them. Describing the killing of the 11 Christians as unwarranted, NCEF said Buhari should be held responsible for the uncontrolled atrocities of ISWAP, Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen. The Christian elders maintained that the remedy to the problem of terrorism in Nigeria is for democracy to remain the only national ideology as designed by the founding fathers of this country. “The National Christian Elders Forum would not want to link this statement with another statement of the Sultan in 2011 in Havard, USA, in which his Eminence said, ‘I do not recognise any Nigerian Constitution and the only constitution I recognise is the Koran’.
