The rivalry between Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero and Nairobi businesswoman Esther Passaris has again resurfaced, this time spilling over to social media. Unconfirmed reports have it that Ms Passaris is warming up for Nairobi politics in 2017, with Kidero being her expected major rival. The attacks further escalated to take a political angle when Passaris asked Kidero to step out of office for ‘failing Nairobians’. City hall had indicated that the businesswoman's advertising company, Adopt-A-Light, had accumulated debt amounting to over 37.4 billion shillings, a figure that she has already discarded as being false. On Friday, she took to her twitter handle to criticise City Hall for what she termed witch-hunt, saying the recent crackdown on outdoor advertisements was targeted at her business.
