Flooding is still ravaging 17 provinces in the Northeast, West and Central region while predicted heavy rains lasting until tomorrow threatens areas in the South. Water released at Chai Nat’s Chao Phraya Dam has been lowered by 300 cubic metres per second since Monday, decreasing the water level in downstream Sappaya district by between 15cm to 20cm. Floods on riverside homes downstream should lessen. Water-retention at Thung Bang Rakham in Phitsanulok was also reduced on Tuesday, he said, while another 15 water-retention fields would be drained on November 15, with water being brought to the irrigation system. Some 380 water pumps and other tools were sent to the South in to prepare for rainfall and floods predicted later this week, he added.
