Things are not going to get better between former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Khalil Mack and his Oakland Raiders until the team itself budges. Primarily because nothing is guaranteed in a violent sport such as the NFL, Mack wants that long-term security before heading back on to the football field. By holding off on handing Mack fair-market value, the Raiders are doing both their best player and themselves a disservice. Guenther was not wrong in noting that Mack will have a lot of catching up to do once he reports for mandatory minicamp and training camp. It could very well strain the relationship between the two sides, leading to Mack actually holding out throughout training camp.
