KUALA LUMPUR (March 31): Keyfield International Bhd (KL:KEYFIELD) on Tuesday entered into another contract for a new dynamic positioning anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel with a Chinese firm. As such, the new vessel will expand its available capacity and allow Keyfield to pursue new tenders and spot charter opportunities without affecting existing commitments. On Feb 4, Keyfield signed a similar US$18 million contract for a new DP2 AHTS vessel with China’s Jiangsu Shunhong Marine Technology Co Ltd.Keyfield said the latest contract will be funded through a combination of internal cash including proceeds from the disposal of vessels. "The shipbuilding of the new DP2 AHTS is expected to have a positive effect on the earnings of our group in the future, upon the new DP2 AHTS being deployed in our vessel chartering business,’’ the company added. The Fujian group has over 160 years of experience, and has delivered over 300 vessels, including multiple platform supply, AHTS vessels, subsea support and maintenance vessels, cable-laying vessels, and high specification offshore platforms and work vessels.
