Kevin Stewart has resigned from his role as transport minister citing mental health reasons after just over two months in the role. The former mental health minister becomes the second incumbent transport chief to quit after a short period in charge, with Graeme Dey doing similarly in January 2022. Mr Stewart had been urged to get on top of these issues but has instead quit his role with immediate effect. He said: "I am writing to you with a heavy heart to resign as your government’s Minister for Transport. He said: "Many people underestimate the pressure on Ministers and I understand why you have felt the need to leave government to concentrate on your mental health and much loved constituency.
