Mr Kosgey enjoyed significant support in the county until 2013 when he stuck with ODM and lost his quest for the Senate’s position. In Emgwen Constituency, Mr Kosgey has been praised for proper use of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), despite his minimal contributions in Parliament. “Political experience and financial influence is likely to work to the advantage of the Kosgey family as they seek elective positions,” said James Kemei, a political analyst. The entry of Allan Kosgey into the Kesses parliamentary seat race is viewed by many as an attempt by the Kosgey family to extend their political ‘empire’ away from the traditional Nandi County. “What the Kosgey family is playing is succession politics which is acceptable in any democratic society,” added Mr Kemei.
