Makonde community members conducted a mock election on Thursday following their attainment of citizenship last October. The community in Kwale did so in preparation for the August 8 general election, which they will participate in for the first time. The Makonde live in the Coast region but are originally from Mozambique where they were recruited by the British colonial authorities.
