A Tanzanian court on Wednesday sentenced 26 Kenyans to one year in jail after they were found to be in the country illegally. The Rombo District Court in Kilimanjaro Region gave the alternative of those charged paying Tsh500,000 (Sh23,641). Resident magistrate Baraka Kibululu convicted them for entering Tanzania without permits and passports. Mayunga said after being brought to court they confessed to committing the offence. It was not clear whether the 26 raised the fine or were taken to jail.
