Kenyans Stuck in Cambodia Move to Court to Compel Govt to Facilitate Repatriation

Over 600 Kenyans stuck in Cambodia have moved to court, seeking urgent government intervention to secure their rescue and repatriation ahead of a looming February 28, 2026 deadline. According to the petitioners, the Kenyans in Cambodia were lured out of the country by fraudulent recruitment agents promising legitimate job opportunities in countries like Thailand. In a supporting affidavit, a petitioner detailed what he detailed as systematic misconduct in Cambodia, including harassment, electrocution and threats of harm by the employer. The compound was later reportedly raided by Cambodian police, promoting the alleged traffickers to flee and leaving the Kenyans stranded. In January, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection confirmed that a total of 390 cases of alleged labour and travel agency fraud are currently under investigation.
