Kenyan President Pauses Speech in Respect of Adhan (+Video)

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Kenyan President William Ruto paused his speech on Monday to show respect for Adhan, also known as the Islamic call to prayer. Ruto, who is a Christian, stopped his speech momentarily during the grounding-breaking ceremony of the Affordable Housing Project in Starehe to show respect to Adhan. The call referred to as Adhan, is the Islamic call to public prayer in a mosque recited by a Muezzin at prescribed times of the day. The call was recited for three minutes before the President resumed his speech to loud applause from the audience. On March 22, 2021, Ruto's predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta touched many Muslim faithful when he paused his speech during Adhan in Tanzania while attending former President John Magufuli's funeral mass.
