A statement made by the DCI revealed that Matiang'i conspired with several leaders from Azimio to stage-manage the raid with the aim to cause fear. "At around 9.30pm, Mr Odinga and the team left the home to go and join the lawyers in the press conference. The DCI alleged that Raila's communication team alerted newsrooms that the former CS's house was surrounded by an elite squad of the police. Commenting on the matter, party leader Raila Odinga asked the MP to resign from the party for being a traitor.
